GEOCLUSTER

Welcome

The GEOCLUSTER project started in the begining of 2008, funded by the research project PTDC/ECM/70368/2006 of the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia.
The GEOCLUSTER cluster is managed by the Section for Geotechnics, Planning and Transportation of the Department of Civil Engineering of FCT/UNL, beeing its main purpose to support the ongoing research in the field of geomechanics and related areas.

Overview

Our small cluster currently consists of 16 64-bit nodes, tottaling 148 cores, with an aggregate of over 500GB of memory. A NAS system (network-attached storage) provides 3TB of shared storage amongst the nodes. All nodes run Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, and all of them are interconnected via private full-duplex Gigabit Ethernet.
The users' access to the cluster resources is controlled by the workload manager SLURM. The cluster is eqquiped with C, Fortran and Python compilers, MPI and OpenMP libraries, as well as, SUBLIM3d and mechpy software for finite element limit analysis.
